Chung has a Bachelor Degree with Honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Chung started on his design and engineering career following completion of his degree in 1997 when he was contracted by his design lecturer to complete the design and prototype of a spring free trampoline. The university subsequently sold the trampoline design to a private company who took it to market where it was an international commercial success. Chung has since continued to work as a design engineer for a number of engineering companies.

In 2005 Chung created Calibre Equipment Ltd when he saw a need for a quality assurance testing machine by the timber industry following changes to structural timber grading standards. The STFE5™ Quality Assurance Timber Tester is the machine of choice for the Australasian timber industry. Chung has since designed and manufactured the Ecoustic™ Grader which was released to market in January 2008 and has been very successful throughout Australasia.

"I have really enjoyed working in the timber industry and intend to continue generating new ideas and products to make timber processing more efficient and profitable," he says.
